San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith had a solid performance against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. We discuss the fantasy implications.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith had a great performance against the Green Bay Packers defense, which was tied for first in takeaways in 2011. Smith went 20-for-26, for 211 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He took care of the football and engineered scoring drives against a tough defense.

Fantasy Analysis: The 49ers unveiled their new-look offense at Lambeau in Week 1, and Smith stepped up to the plate. He executed, didn't make costly mistakes and pulled the trigger on the proper throws. Smith's value is that he won't negate fantasy points with costly decisions. He also has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal, as the 49ers displayed a potent, balanced offensive attack. Smith could be worth starting, or provide as a good flex in league's that permit quarterbacks.
