49ers Defense Remains Atop The League: Fantasy Implications

The 49ers defense had a big day against the Green Bay Packers prolific offense. We breakdown the fantasy implications.

The San Francisco 49ers defense was able to go on the road in Week 1 and limit Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to 22 points. At home, this Packers offense is capable of putting up numbers in the high 40's. But the Niners were able to put the clamps on the league's highest scoring offense and come away with a win.

Fantasy Analysis: The San Francisco 49ers had a league-leading defense in 2011 and returned all eleven starters this year. This is a consistent and cohesive unit that performs better than any defense in the league today. This Niners group has a multiple pass rushers, including premier sackmaster Aldon Smith. They also excel at taking the football away and keeping games low-scoring. And although they didn't have him in Week 1, Ted Ginn Jr. is a top-three return man, capable of providing points in leagues that include ST returns.
