Eddie Royal Should Have Decent Fantasy Value For Monday Night

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - AUGUST 30: Eddie Royal #11 of the San Diego Chargers looks to put a move on Tavares Gooden #56 of the San Francisco 49ers in the second quarter of an NFL pre-season football game at Candlestick Park on August 30, 2012 in San Francisco, California. Eddie Royal will have a couple of roles for the Chargers on Monday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

When the Chargers take on the Raiders Monday night, Eddie Royal is supposed to have an active role in the offense. He will see action as the slot receiver while also handling punt return duties throughout the night.

Fantasy Impact: Royal hasn't been able to put up nearly the same numbers as he did in his rookie season with the Broncos. After starting out his pro career with 91 catches, Royal hauled in just 115 receptions in the past three seasons combined. Antonio Gates seems to be excited about having a prototypical slot man in the offense, something the Chargers have been lacking in recent years. Gates, Robert Meachem and Malcom Floyd are expected to see a fair share of Philip River's targets on Monday night, but Royal could be a nice surprise.
