Ryan Mathews is practicing in pads again and finally cleared for contact. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (collarbone) is practicing in pads Thursday, reports Michael Gehlken. It's his first time playing in pads since breaking his clavicle on his first and only preseason carry. There is still no official word on his status for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Impact: Slow but steady progress for the Top 5 fantasy back. The Chargers clearly aren't eager to rush Mathews back even though their run game could badly use the shot in the arm - they had a paltry 32 yards on 20 rushing attempts against the Oakland Raiders, with 12 of those yards coming on end-arounds. We'll know more about Mathews' Week 2 status in Friday's injury report.
