Antonio Gates and Ryan Mathews are inactive. We break down the fantasy implications.

Antonio Gates was a shocking inactive for their late-afternoon game against the Titans and Ryan Mathews is also inactive, as expected.

Analysis: Wow. This is could be a crippling blow to Gates owners that rolled the dice on him. Beat writers all over San Diego said Gates was expected to play, so his owners might be scrambling for a backup and might have to cut someone they might not want to cut if they're in a tight matchup. Randy McMichael could be an option. Meanwhile, Mathews did put in some practice this week and he could be eyeing a Week 3 debut. Ronnie Brown should get most of the work, but Curtis Brinkley could be an option too. We would avoid this situation.
