ESPN's Ed Werner confirmed that Jason Witten's spleen injury is usually a 4-to-6 week injury and he is still "unlikely" to play in the opener on Wednesday.
UPDATE: Tony Romo said Jason Witten will play on Wednesday.
Fantasy Analysis: Fantasy owners of Jason Witten should already have a contingency plan in place with Dallas star tight end just returning to practice yesterday. While he is still ahead of schedule, an internal injury to an organ like the spleen needs to be fully recovered. When the Cowboys take on the Giants on Wednesday, Witten's injury will have been able to heal for four weeks and two days, so he is still within that original prognosis of 4-to-6 weeks. Even if he's active, owners shouldn't expect Witten to see his usual workload. Dez Bryant will be a busy man against the banged up secondary and is a WR1 in almost any format. John Phillips is expected to replace Witten and is an option on very deep or two-TE leagues.
