Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith is taking most of the reps with the first-team offense, even with the return of Mikel Leshoure. We break down the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith was taking most of the snaps Wednesday with the first-team offense, The Detroit News reports. Smith's role as the featured back for Detroit is somewhat in question this week with the return of Mikel Leshoure, who was suspended for the first two games of the season. Leshoure was injured for part of training camp took a limited number of snaps in the preseason.

Fantasy Impact: The Detroit running back situation is a bit murkier this week but fantasy owners should expect Smith to get more touches than Leshoure. Going forward, however, expect Leshoure to get every opportunity to become the No. 1 back for the Lions. For week 3, both are a low-end No. 3 back or flex play, with Smith rated ahead of Leshoure.
