DeAngelo Williams Fantasy Value Decreases As Panthers Fall Behind

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - FILE: DeAngelo Williams #34 of the Carolina Panthers runs the ball in the first half against the New York Giants on September 12, 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. According to reports July 27, 2011, Williams and the Panthers have ageed to a five-year $43 million deal, with $21 million guaranteed, to stay with Carolina. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)

DeAngelo Williams didn't have a ton of opportunities to pad his stats on Thursday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

DeAngelo Williams averaged a solid 4.5 yards per carry against the Giants on Thursday night. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell behind as soon as the game started, forcing them to turn to the air for most of the game. Williams finished with 50 yards rushing and 23 yards receiving.

Fantasy Impact: The thought of Williams breaking out with Jonathan Stewart sidelined continues to fall through. Williams found room to run when he was given the chance, but 11 carries aren't going to do much for his fantasy value. The Panthers had to rely on Cam Newton after they failed to score a single point in the first half. Williams could be a decent flex play against Atlanta next week.
