Steve Smith Has Decent Fantasy Night In Panthers Blowout

CHARLOTTE, NC - SEPTEMBER 20: Jayron Hosley #28 of the New York Giants tackles Steve Smith #89 of the Carolina Panthers during play at Bank of America Stadium on September 20, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Giants won 36-7. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images)

Steve Smith managed respectable numbers against the Giants. We break down the fantasy implications.

Steve Smith failed to record 100+ yards for the third game in a row this season, but he did finish with four receptions for 86 yards on the night. Cam Newton only targeted Smith four times throughout their matchup with the Giants.

Fantasy Impact: Consider it a little concerning that Smith couldn't put up bigger numbers while the Panthers were constantly forced to throw the ball against a depleted secondary. He hauled in every pass that came his way, showing his rapport with Newton is as strong as ever. It would be nice, though, for fantasy owners to see him have a few more looks each game going forward.
