Patrick Willis Has Sprained Ankle: Fantasy Implications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 16: Brandon Pettigrew #87 of the Detroit Lions catches the ball in the endzone to score a touchdown as he is tackled by Patrick Willis #52 and Donte Whitner #31 of the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park on September 16, 2012 in San Francisco, California. Patrick Willis was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, but the 49ers expect him to be fine. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Francisco 49ers LB Patrick Willis has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hillis left Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings late in the 4th quarter. The 49ers do not consider the injury to be serious, and Willis was later walking around the locker room and hotel without a limp.

Fantasy Impact: We'll take the team's word for now that Willis is fine, but ankle sprains are not to be trifled with, so they will probably go easy on their defensive captain in practices this week. Keep checking back here for practice reports throughout the week as Willis' status gets updated. The Niners visit the New York Jets in Week 4.
