Randy Moss has been named a starter on the 49ers' offense next to Michael Crabtree. We break down the fantasy implications.

Randy Moss was named a starter at wide receiver next to Michael Crabtree on the San Francisco 49ers' first official depth chart of the regular season, according David Fucillo of Niners Nation. The veteran won the spot over the likes of Mario Manningham, Kyle Williams and Ted Ginn Jr.

Analysis: Moss' fantasy value is difficult to gauge at the moment. While he is a future hall-of-famer, his rocky 2010 season and subsequent retirement makes a sudden return to form no guarantee. The Niners are likely to rotate a few bodies at wideout, making consistent fantasy production uncertain especially within a run-heavy offense. The season opener against the Green Bay Packers' secondary should give owners a good indication of Moss' potential in San Francisco. Giving him a spot in your starting lineup without more information is extremely risky at this point, however.
