Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten reportedly tried to sign a medical waiver to play in Week 1 but the team refused to let him do it. We break down the fantasy implications.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has reportedly asked several times to sign a medical waiver to play in Week 1 but the team is refusing to let him, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. Witten is recovering from a lacerated spleen suffered in the preseason and has been medically cleared to play in Week 2. Witten is listed as doubtful for Wednesday night's game with the New York Giants.

Fantasy Impact: This doesn't change anything for fantasy owners who drafted Witten. He almost certainly won't play Wednesday but it does show how determined he is to get back on the field. Witten owners should proceed with their backup plan for Week 1 and should expect him back on the field against Seattle.
