Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was held out of practice again on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury, but was still working out on the sidelines and head coach Ron Rivera was optimistic that he'd be able to play on Sunday against the Bucs. Stewart has been held out since injuring the ankle in the team's final preseason game against the Jets and could be a gametime decision for the Panthers.
Fantasy Implications: Any time missed for Stewart could actually be a positive thing depending on which Carolina running back you may own. When all three of Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, and Mike Tolbert are healthy, it means that there are fewer carries to go around. If Stewart were to miss Sunday's game, it would be a boon to William's fantasy value. It's hard to recommend any of the three when they're all playing and unlikely that any could top 600 yards this season while also losing touchdown value because of Cam Newton's presence at the goal line.
