San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Matthews is returning from a shoulder injury he sustained a month ago. We discuss the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Matthews got in some individual work at practice today, but was not a full participant.. Matthews is expected to miss time early in the season due to a shoulder injury. Matthews broke is clavicle early in August during an exhibition match-up.

Fantasy Analysis: This is great news for Matthews and the Chargers who were both hoping for big things from the running back this year. Matthews has great upside when he's healthy, as he looks to lead the backs for the Chargers from this point on. Matthews vowed to be back in time for the Week 1 match-up on Monday night against the division rival Oakland Raiders. The tailback has potential for all-purpose yards and is a must-start on game day if he is indeed ready to go. There is reason for optimism, but keep an eye out for more reports the next two days.
