Ryan Mathews (clavicle) will miss Monday's game between the Chargers and Raiders. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ryan Mathews will miss Monday night's game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders, the North County Times reports. Mathews is still recovering from Aug. 10 surgery to repair a broken clavicle. The running back maintained throughout preseason that he would be able to play Week 1, but he has yet to be cleared for contact.

Analysis: While Mathews was optimistic about his return, most everyone else with any insight into the situation was not. He is still a potentially elite fantasy option this season, but you'll have to find production elsewhere this week. Be sure to revisit Mathews' status for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Ronnie Brown is expected to carry the load for San Diego on Monday, with Curtis Brinkley and Jackie Battle contributing as well.
