Fantasy Football start/sit advice, Week 6 TNF: Alshon Jeffery

Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports

After a huge Week 5, can the Bears No. 2 receiver keep his hot pace up on Thursday night? We break down Alshon Jeffery's fantasy prospects this week.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had a big Week 4, but that was nothing compared to his statistical explosion in Week 5. The receiver will look to continue his hot pace of late on Thursday night against the New York Giants.

After 13 total catches for 104 total yards and no touchdowns in the Bears' first three games, Jeffery caught five balls for 107 yards and a touchdown in Week 4, then ten for 218 yards and a score a week ago in one of the highest-scoring games for a wide receiver across the league this season.

Fantasy impact: Jeffery has been an available target for quarterback Jay Cutler more as defenses look to defend stud wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Additionally, tight end Martellus Bennett became a scoring weapon early in the season, with three touchdowns in the team's first two games.

With Jeffery proving he can be a big weapon as well, defenses will have to adjust further. In the long term, best guess is that Jeffery's production falls to more typical No. 2 receiver levels, while Marshall and Bennett get back to their high levels. This week, the Bears take on a woeful Giants defense; all three are basically must-starts against that team.
