Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings both active for Raiders, but make risky fantasy plays

Doug Pensinger

The Raiders received a boost to their backfield with Darren McFadden returning to action for the first time since Week 5. We break down the fantasy implications.

Raiders running backs Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings are both listed as active versus the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Stacey Dales.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise in McFadden's case, as the Raiders' top running back injured his hamstring versus the Redskins in Week 5 and was held out of action the following week. With a bye on the horizon in Week 7, it was expected that the Raiders would err to caution and keep McFadden fresh by sitting him for Week 6 and using the subsequent bye week to get him fresh for the season's remainder. Instead, he will split time in the backfield with Jennings, although the extent of which is not known.

Fantasy Spin: For this week, this isn't a helpful turn of events for fantasy owners. Jennings initially made for a decent flex play with upside with the possibility of a large volume of touches to be had. Instead, with McFadden back in the equation, Jennings' ceiling for this week is capped, especially when dealing with a stout Chiefs defense. If both backs receive around 12 touches, it will be difficult to capitalize. Either running back should only be started as desperation flex options.
