Randall Cobb exits early with knee injury, fantasy owners hold collective breath

Patrick McDermott

The Packers were dealt a blow to their offense on Sunday when Randall Cobb exited with an apparent knee injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Packers receiver Randall Cobb exited early in the team's 19-17 win over the Ravens due to a knee injury.

Cobb was on the receiving end of a 15-yard pass, and also on the receiving end of a helmet-to-knee hit by Ravens safety Matt Elam. Cobb never returned to the game, and was later seen on the sidelines sporting crutches. His official diagnosis has yet to be made or announced, as well as that of his counterpart James Jones, who also left early with a leg injury.

Fantasy Spin: A player on crutches is never an encouraging picture for fantasy owners, and should Cobb miss time, it would be an unwelcome blow to lineups in all formats. Cobb has petered off after getting off to a torrid start with three 10-target games out of the gate and two 100-yard performances. Cobb caught all four of his targets versus the Ravens for 53 yards, and was likely en route to a big day.

Should Cobb miss a significant period of time, expect a boost to the volume of Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley's workload until he returns. His status deserves close monitoring throughout the week.
