Robert Griffin III looking better and better for fantasy owners after big rushing day

Wesley Hitt

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had 323 all-purpose yards on Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been something of a fantasy football disappointment of late but flashed some encouraging signs for fantasy owners on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Griffin started the season with questions about the health of his leg, and wasn't as involved in the run game, leading many to believe that he wasn't ready.

Whether that was actually the case or not, Griffin is getting closer to looking like he did last season. He managed to put up 77 rushing yards and made several throws outside of the pocket. He ran the read option very well in the second half. Being a dual-threat quarterback is what has made Griffin a desirable fantasy option in the first place, as rushing yards can be the deciding factor in big fantasy matchups.

Griffin had struggled in that aspect thus far, but he certainly looked healthy on Sunday night. He did have a costly interception and fumble, but accounted for 323 yards in total.

Fantasy Impact: Griffin, as noted, has been disappointing thus far. But he's shown some good things in recent weeks and should remain a must-start for fantasy owners. If he can hit his stride he can still do big things, including leading the Redskins to an NFC East crown, given how poor that division has been this season.
