DeMarco Murray injury update: Joseph Randle becoming a hot fantasy pickup

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

DeMarco Murray's knee injury is going to sideline him. We break down the fantasy implications.

DeMarco Murray did not practice on Wednesday. He is unlikely to play in Week 7 and could miss more time with his MCL sprain.

Joseph Randle will get the start and is expected to carry the load with Lance Dunbar (hamstring) also dealing with an injury.

Murray sustained the injury in Sunday night's game against the Redskins. He has been hurt with some regularity in his career, missing six games last season and three in his rookie year in 2011.

The Oklahoma product was having a solid season with three rushing TDs and producing a 4.7 yards-per-carry average. The Cowboys are 27th in rushing attempts and haven't even had their bye yet, so they're not much of a run-happy team with Tony Romo throwing the ball around quite a bit.

Fantasy impact: The short-term impact is that Randle should be picked up in just about every league since he has a very friendly matchup with the Eagles on Sunday. He should be viewed as a flex play in standard leagues. As for Murray, fantasy owners have to just stick it out with him since his MCL sprain is not expected to be a season-ending injury.
