Greg Olsen injury update: Panthers TE probable, will start for fantasy owners in Week 7

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

The Panthers tight end is fully expected to play against the Rams in Week 7. We break down the fantasy implications.

Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen (foot) was able to fully participate in the team's practice on Friday and is expected to start against the St. Louis Rams in Week 7. In five games this season, Olson has 23 catches for 292 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy impact: The Panthers face a Rams defense that has given up the fifth fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season, so Olsen will be in tough in Week 7.

The good news is that quarterback Cam Newton is coming off a big game last week in leading the Panthers to victory and he feels comfortable looking to Olsen as a safety valve. The seventh-year tight end is averaging 58.4 receiving yards per game this season, which is the highest average of his career so far.

He seems to have a thing for scoring exactly five touchdowns every year, he has managed to do that in each of the last three seasons. He is not a top tier tight end among the likes of Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski, but he is definitely producing enough fantasy wise to keep his owners happy. Olsen should be in your starting lineup assuming you weren't able to draft a tight end in the elite class.
