Cam Newton delivers another solid fantasy night

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Panthers quarterback has been rolling as of late, and the Buccaneers found no answer to stopping him on Thursday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cam Newton completed 23-of-32 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns against the Buccaneers on Thursday night. He also rushed for 50 yards and another score on 11 carries in Tampa.

Newton has been extremely accurate in recent weeks and he continued his sharp passing against a dejected Bucs defense. Whether he took off on broken plays or scripted runs, Newton looked solid on the ground to complement his arm.

Fantasy impact: Aside from two subpar outings against the Seahawks and Cardinals, Newton's quarterback rating is spectacular in 2013. He's making good decisions and the Panthers are turning him loose, letting him get the job done with his feet, which benefits fantasy owners.

Several of his receivers dropped passes on Thursday night. Ted Ginn let one deep ball go straight through his hands. Newton's numbers could have been better, but owners will surely settle for three touchdowns and 50 rushing yards. QB1 range, meet Cam again.
