Kyle Rudolph efficient in loss, steady fantasy performance

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Vikings’ sophomore tight end caught everything thrown his way against the Packers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 51 yards in a 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. Rudolph's totals were both team highs.

Fantasy impact: With Christian Ponder back at quarterback for the Vikings, there really isn't a single receiver worth owning in fantasy leagues aside from Rudolph. That said, Rudolph isn't going to get a ton of opportunities to find the end zone because the team is just not very good at moving the chains through the air.

It is definitely a blessing that the Vikings have the best running back in the game in Adrian Peterson wearing purple, especially with the instability there is under center.

Rudolph is only worth owning in deeper fantasy leagues and it is not known when Josh Freeman (concussion) will regain his temporary hold on the starting job, or how effective he will be whenever he does come back.

As a fantasy owner, Rudolph is not a bad play when your usual starter at tight end is injured or on their bye week. However, Sunday's game against the Packers marked just the second time this season that Rudolph has eclipsed 50 yards receiving. He's a low-end option in most fantasy leagues.
