Adrian Peterson lone bright spot for Vikings, still producing fantasy-wise

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Vikings running back was effective in limited work against the Packers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson carried the ball 13 times for 60 yards and a touchdown in a 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. Peterson also caught three passes for 23 yards in the contest.

Fantasy impact: Fantasy owners have to be satisfied with Peterson's performance given the circumstances. First and foremost, Peterson is dealing with a minor hamstring injury. Secondly, the Packers were ahead by a wide margin for most of the game, meaning the Vikings were forced to throw the ball.

After averaging a shade over 131 yards rushing per game last season and almost single-handedly leading the Vikings to the playoffs, Peterson is right back down to the 80-85-yard range he has been more familiar with in the last few years.

Truth be told, if Peterson were on a better team, he would have a lot more room to run than he does now, which makes his status as a top fantasy running back all the more impressive. No matter how tumultuous the Vikings quarterback situation may be, Peterson is a must-start in all fantasy leagues.
