On Sunday, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jarrett Boykin didn't quite live up to his Week 7 performance against the Cleveland Browns, but he came close. Boykin managed to snare five receptions for 89 yards, helping the Packers to a 44-31 victory over the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings.
Boykin was thrust into a starting role in Week 7 when Randall Cobb and James Jones were both injured, and responded with eight receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. You can blame Jordy Nelson for his lack of a touchdown in this one, as Nelson caught both of Aaron Rodgers' touchdown passes, and had seven receptions for 123 yards overall.
It's important that Boykin perform well, given how banged up the Packers' receivers are at this point. More than that, with tight end Jermichael Finley out indefinitely, Boykin should see the field more even when those players return.
Fantasy Impact: Boykin certainly shouldn't be one of your top two fantasy receivers, but if you're in a deep league and in need of a WR3, Boykin over-delivered over the past two weeks. He might be able to establish himself as valuable enough to keep in the starting lineup when the Packers get healthy. Fantasy owners should hang on to him and start him as he gets favorable matchups or starting time due to injuries.
