C.J. Spiller decision coming down to the wire; fantasy owners tread carefully

Nick Laham

Spiller and Fred Jackson are both battling injuries, leading to questions going forward. We break down the fantasy implications.

Running back C.J. Spiller is expected to be a true game-time decision for the Buffalo Bills Thursday, according to CBS Sports columnist Jamey Eisenberg. Spiller has been battling an injured ankle and was limited in Wednesday practice after missing Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the team's other primary running back, Fred Jackson, is listed as probably as he combats a knee injury. It appears likely that Jackson will go regardless of Spiller's status. Tashard Choice is the team's No. 3, and could see time if Spiller is out.

Fantasy update: Jackson appears to be a must-start this week, as even if Spiller goes, it seems likely he'll be at less than full strength. Spiller, if he goes, probably has to be used in fantasy, as it seems unlikely owners have a better-than-Spiller option in the hopper. But with the questions surrounding his status, fantasy owners will need some backup option.

Choice's value is low, but it exists, as neither of the team's top two has a history of health, and both enter Thursday's game with question marks. In the deepest leagues, there is at least an argument for using Choice.
