Tony Romo ignites fantasy rosters with 506 yards and five touchdowns

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Tony Romo threw for 506 yards, five touchdowns, and an interception against Denver on Sunday. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

In case there was any doubt, it seems as though Tony Romo's rib injury is behind him. Fantasy owners that started Romo were ecstatic as he set a franchise record with 506 passing yards. He completed 25 of 36 passes against the Broncos. Romo's record-breaking yardage totals were accompanied by five touchdowns and one interception. Romo was finding his receivers all afternoon. Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, and Terrance Williams all had over 100 receiving yards and at least one touchdown each.

Fantasy impact: Many owners likely started Romo. Quarterbacks typically find themselves playing catch up on the scoreboard or playing in garbage time when they're facing Peyton Manning. However, no one could have expected Romo accomplishing a career-high 506 yards on the afternoon. He kept pace with Manning all afternoon as the Broncos ultimately beat the Cowboys 51-48. Romo currently leads all fantasy quarterbacks for Week 5. He will likely continue putting up strong fantasy numbers as he faces the Redskins in Week 6.
