Jared Cook posts mediocre game; fantasy value continues to plummet

Scott Kane-USA TODAY Sports

St. Louis Rams tight end Jared Cook caught three passes for 26 yards and no touchdowns in the Week 5 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. We bring you the fantasy implications here.

St. Louis Rams tight end Jared Cook caught three passes for 26 yards and no touchdowns in the Week 5 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cook continued his string of games without making much of an impact on Sunday. After his big Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Cook has failed to score and is averaging a little over three catches per game. He did manage to snag everything thrown his way on Sunday. Fellow tight end Lance Kendricks caught one touchdown pass and had four receptions for 37 yards.

Fantasy impact: Cook was expected to post big numbers in St. Louis but has only had one impact game. On the year, Cook has been targeted 33 times and has 20 receptions for 266 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Sam Bradford isn't putting up big numbers against even mediocre defenses so Cook's fantasy value is plummeting. Fellow tight end Lance Kendricks had a better game than Cook and caught a touchdown pass. Right now he is strictly a match up player in most fantasy leagues. The Rams will the Houston Texans in Week 6 and they have one of the best passing defenses right now. Start Cook at your own risk.
