Although it's not making him an elite fantasy quarterback in terms of the points he's scoring in your league, quarterback Cam Newton has taken the Panthers to a higher level. He's running the ball more effectively than he did last year and is more efficient passing the ball, too, showing that he's able to connect with open receivers regularly. That said, the Panthers don't really have a receiver that can be relied upon for consistent fantasy production.
Tight end Greg Olsen is probably the only reliable receiving option, but he only puts up points on a semi-regular basis. He might see a lot of action in Week 10 as Newton will see guys like Steve Smith and Ted Ginn Jr. being tightly covered by the 49er secondary unit. Olsen isn't exactly going to rack up receptions, but he does have touchdowns in back-to-back games for the Panthers.
San Francisco 49ers
After a sloppy start to the season, the 49ers look like Super Bowl contenders again. Colin Kaepernick was able to scorch the Jacksonville Jaguars using both his arm and his legs, and although the Panthers defense is much tougher than that of Jacksonville's, Kaepernick will look to do the same in Week 10. Although he's not exactly a high-volume thrower in terms of completions or passing yards, fantasy owners should note that Kaepernick has three rushing touchdowns over the last two weeks.
Speaking of rushing, running back Frank Gore is leading the charge for the 49ers in that department. Though he's only managed a high of 70 and 71 yards rushing in the last two games, Gore has found the end zone a combined four times in those contests. He now has seven touchdowns on the season and six of those scores have come in the last five weeks, making him one of the hottest players in fantasy football right now.
