Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 10: Ben Tate has a good matchup

Arian Foster is having back surgery and will miss the rest of the season, so it'll be the Ben Tate Show at running back for Houston. We break down the fantasy implications.

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is out for the season with a back injury, which becomes a tough blow for the disappointing team. The Texans have become one of the worst teams in the league and they’re actually on the longest losing streak in the NFL. In fact, no other team in on more than a three-game slide (Falcons have lost three).

Due to their struggles, there has been very little buzz about  BenTate this season even though he entered the year as the top handcuff with Arian’s leg injuries during fantasy draft season. The Auburn product has just 455 rushing yards and one score on 103 carries. That’s a solid 4.4 yards per carry, but it’s been trending down.

He hasn’t cleared more than 4.0 yards per carry since September and the Cardinals shut him down last week to the tune of 15 carries for 56 yards. On the plus side, he saw three catches in the backfield and was more or less a featured back. His only competition came from Dennis Johnson – a somewhat hot pickup – and this should be Tate’s baby again.

Fantasy impact: His schedule is looking pretty, pretty good. He gets the Raiders this week, the Jacksonville Jaguars next week and the New England Patriots without Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfolk. Start Tate with confidence on Sunday.
