In wake of a Week 11 performance where Peterson averaged just over three yards per carry, the reigning NFL MVP noted that a groin injury had been bothering him. The Vikings have subsequently kept him out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but Peterson vowed to play on Sunday versus the Green Bay Packers prior to that.
Fantasy Spin: While missing back-to-back practices is far from an encouraging omen for Peterson's chances on Sunday, the All-Pro running back is no stranger to playing through pain and producing. If he can get back to practice at a limited basis on Friday, it bodes well for his fantasy prospects, for even taking the field at 60-70 percent would be enough to translate into fantasy points.
In the meantime, fantasy owners could do worse than to place a cheap waiver bid on Toby Gerhart in the event Peterson doesn't take the field. Peterson's status is far from cemented this week, so owners should play wait-and-see and have their backup plans ready just in case.
