Eddie Royal injury update: Tough matchup makes matters worse for fantasy owners

Joel Auerbach

Eddie Royal continues to miss practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers receiver Eddie Royal is listed as questionable to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. He missed practice all week with a toe injury and is expected to play.

Royal has missed a lot of practice this week and that's nothing new. He was more or less ruled out back on Oct. 20 after missing every practice in the week preceding the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he came up with four catches for 69 yards and a score in the win.

He continues to miss practice with the toe, but he hasn't missed any games since sustaining the injury, His numbers have dropped off severely, though, with only four catches and 56 yards over his last two weeks.

Fantasy impact: It was only a matter of time before Royal fizzled out and it looks like the time is now. Fantasy owners can probably cut him outright with his low upside. As for owners in deep leagues, it's not going to be easy to play Royal in a very tough matchup.
