Julius Thomas' status "not looking good" for Broncos, fantasy owners, per report

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos may be without one of their many weapons on offense for Sunday night's showdown versus the New England Patriots. We break down the fantasy implications.

Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas' availability for Sunday night's game versus the New England Patriots is "not looking good," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Thomas practiced both Thursday and Friday for the Broncos, but at a limited basis. As a result, Thomas was listed with a true "questionable" designation for this week's matchup and remains a game-time decision. A decision about the versatile tight end is expected to be made after Thomas works out for the team Sunday morning.

Fantasy Spin: No news is ever good news for fantasy owners with a start player whose status is in question, and preceding a game with playoff implications, Broncos brass may opt to hold their cards close to their chest. As a result, fantasy owners may have to roll with a different option at tight end if news hasn't broken about Thomas' status before 1 p.m.

Though pickings are likely slim on the waiver wire, Joel Dreessen is an option that is available in 97 percent of Yahoo! leagues. He won't be what Thomas is to fantasy lineups, but not the worst desperation option that his owners could opt for in the worst-case scenario.
