Jordan Reed held in check with 53 total yards for fantasy owners

The Redskins are finding new ways to get the ball into their rookie tight end's hands. We break down the fantasy implications.

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed posted his first modest stat sheet since becoming heavily involved in the team's offense.

Reed finished the afternoon with four catches for 37 yards on five targets, as quarterback Robert Griffin III was able to instead find Pierre Garcon regularly for huge chunks of yardage versus a Chargers secondary that surrendered 172 yards to him. Reed remained on the field for the majority of the team's snaps and lined up in several different positions, but it did not culminate in a big yardage total like in previous weeks.

Fantasy Spin: If anything, this is an encouraging performance for Reed's fantasy owners despite the quiet stat sheet. Reed seems to be getting involved in new ways each week, as Redskins coaches dialed-up a triple option play with Reed receiving the pitch. That resulted in an 18-yard gain, and also showed that the Redskins brass is working to find ways to get the ball into their athletic tight end's hands while the passing game looks for its identity.

Versus a Minnesota Vikings defense that was just gashed by Tony Romo and the Cowboys, Reed makes for an attractive TE1 option once again in Week 10.
