Nick Foles tosses 7 touchdowns, leads fantasy quarterbacks in Week 9

Thearon W. Henderson

Nick Foles threw for 406 yards and seven touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders in Week 9. We take a look at the fantasy implications.

As of Sunday night, Nick Foles is the top fantasy quarterback of Week 9. Foles threw for 406 yards and seven touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a 49-20 victory. Foles' seven touchdowns ties the NFL single-game record. He threw scoring passes to DeSean Jackson, Brent Celek, LeSean McCoy, Zach Ertz, and Riley Cooper caught three touchdowns. Foles completed 22 of 28 passes without a single interception. He was replaced by Matt Barkley late in the game after several stalled drives and a healthy lead.

Fantasy impact: First and foremost, Foles' success on Sunday should diminish the value of Michael Vick moving forward. Despite his poor performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, Foles' seven touchdowns should cement his role as the team's starting quarterback moving forward. That remains to be confirmed by the coaching staff of course. As of Sunday evening, Foles was only owned in 23 percent of Yahoo! leagues, but he should be owned in all formats after his outstanding performance. He'll face an average Green Bay Packers defense in Week 10, followed by a generous Washington Redskins defense in Week 11 before a bye week.
