Josh Gordon quiet fantasy effort in victory

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Browns No. 1 receiver got some unexpected help from his teammates against the Ravens. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon caught just three passes for 44 yards in a 24-18 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9. Gordon was targeted seven times in the game.

Fantasy impact: Gordon's performance against the Ravens on Sunday marks the second time in the last three weeks that he's been held to less than four catches.

The fact that quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Brandon Weeden are not under center and Jason Campbell has taken over may have slightly altered the balance of the targets being passed around the Browns receiving corps.

In Week 9, that worked to the benefit of teammates Greg Little and Davone Bess. Little caught a team-high seven passes for 122 yards in the game while Bess managed three catches for just 24 yards, but two of those catches went for touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see if Gordon can bounce back and still remain the Browns No. 1 receiver. Talent-wise, he is, but he probably hasn't worked with Campbell very much seeing as how Campbell is the Brown's third-string quarterback. Perhaps another week of practice during the team's bye week will allow Gordon to be more effective in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
