New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is not practicing with the team on Wednesday, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. Cruz is dealing with a neck injury sustained in the team's Week 8 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
The veteran wide receiver had a week to recover for the team's bye week and was actually present at a light practice on Monday. It's unclear if there were any real setbacks on Monday, but the Giants are obviously being cautious at this point. Head coach Tom Coughin said that he "wouldn't call it a setback, but obviously it's an issue," according to Vacchiano in another Tweet.
Cruz as caught 47 passes for 677 yards and four touchdowns this season. He's been an effective weapon in an ineffective offense, but the fault is definitely not with him. He had seven receptions for 86 yards before sustaining the neck injury against Philadelphia.
Fantasy Impact: Cruz is one of the top receivers in the league and a must-start week-in and week-out. It's still too early to tell if his status is really in doubt for Week 10 or not, so fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach. If he misses practice on Thursday or Friday, then there will be serious cause to worry. For now, it could legitimately be the team being overly cautious.
