Cecil Shorts injury update: WR probable, will play for fantasy owners

Sam Greenwood

The Jaguars' wide receiver is probable and will suit up in Week 13. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) is listed as probable and will play in the team's Week 13 game against the Cleveland Browns. Shorts practiced with the team all week and isn't in any danger of missing time this week.

Fantasy Impact: Shorts' season has been pretty on par with what fantasy owners expected. Plenty of catches, minimal scores (one touchdown). After a slight bump in the road (four total catches in Weeks 10 and 11), Shorts publicly spoke out about his lack of targets and the Jaguars responded by targeting him a team-high 11 times in Week 12 and he finished with a typical 8/71 line. Shorts only managed to top the 100-yard receiving mark once back in Week 3, and owners shouldn't expect a ton of yards on a given week with quarterback Chad Henne under center. His value continues to come from catches.

While things seem to be back to normal in Jacksonville, Shorts will be facing off with elite corner back Joe Haden in Week 13. Fantasy owners could be in for a long, frustrating day. Shorts will be a low-upside WR3 play in PPR leagues this week.
