New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen looks to be a fantasy asset from his small sample size of three games played this year. In the first game of the season, Vereen rushed 14 times for 101 yards and caught 7 passes for another 58 yards. His wrist injury kept him sidelined until Week 11 when he rushed once for seven yards but also hauled in eight receptions for 65 yards. He was given a larger role running the ball last week but didn't do much with 10 carries for 31 yards. However, he still managed to catch eight balls for 60 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Regardless of his role in the running game, it seems clear that Vereen will be heavily featured as one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite targets. He hasn't caught less than seven passes in his three games this season. He was given a goal line carry last week and failed to convert it which could hurt his value in standard leagues but it is clear that Vereen is an asset in PPR leagues. Vereen will be a strong flex option against Houston Texans and should be started in PPR leagues.
