Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 15: Jacob Tamme emerges as an option

Dustin Bradford

Jacob Tamme could get some looks on Thursday with Wes Welker out. Should you start him in fantasy with not much of a sample size?

The Denver Broncos won't have Wes Welker for Thursday's game against the San Diego Chargers. The loss of Welker should have a trickle-down effect to all of the Broncos receivers since he's such a big part of the offense. On his 110 targets, he caught 73 of them for 778 yards and 10 scores.

The Broncos essentially put tight end Jacob Tamme in Welker's role against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Tamme had four catches for 47 yards in the easy win. Sure, that's hardly an impressive line, but Tamme played 45 of the 46 snaps after the Welker injury and a week of practice in the role should help him rack up stats.

Fantasy impact: The Broncos are just about matchup proof against any defense, so do not worry about the Chargers ranking 12th against tight ends in fantasy points allowed. What's more, they are 29th in the league against receivers, which is more or less what Tamme will be anyway. He's a solid TE1 in all leagues with plenty of upside. If you have a tight end you're not comfortable starting, Tamme could be your guy this week for his high upside and familiarity with Peyton Manning.
