Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson suffered an ankle injury against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14's loss on Sunday. He did not return to the game, which allowed Toby Gerhart to rack up 89 yards and a score on 15 carries as the lead rusher.
Gerhart didn't leave Sunday's game unscathed either and has a hamstring strain. Peterson was ruled out on Saturday, leaving Gerhart the lions share of the carries. But, Gerhart's status is up in the air for Sunday. In fact, he isn't expected to play, per Sean Jensen of K-TWIN in Minnesota. The 26-year-old Stanford product has been great as a backup with 7.9 yards per carry on the season and, if he were to start, would see a featured load sans All Day.
It will likely come down to the wire, so keep an eye out to see if Gerhart is active. If he's inactive, Matt Asiata could start for Minnesota.
Fantasy impact: The Vikings have a very tough matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles haven't allowed over 21 points in any game in their last nine outings -- the longest active streak in the NFL. Surprisingly, even their uptempo offense hasn't hindered their defense and they're not allowing big plays to the opposition. Gerhart has still looked pretty good in his time at back this year, but given his questionable status should probably sit.
