New York Jets
The Carolina Panthers have one of the best run defenses in the NFL. But since the Jets don't have much of a passing game these days, they'll have little choice but to run right at the Panthers. Running back Chris Ivory will be charged with the task of doing just that. It's a tall order, but Ivory has averaged over 4.5 yards per carry over the last two weeks, so it's not impossible.
He will need help, though. Quarterback Geno Smith will have to do his part, too. Smith completed more than 60 percent of his passes last week for the first time in well over a month against the Oakland Raiders. He also ran for 50 yards in that game. He'll be in for a much bigger challenge this week, so fantasy owners who have a Jets receiver on their roster may want to look elsewhere.
Cam Newton got off to a rough start at the beginning of the season, but that's way back in the rearview mirror at this point. Newton put together a rare dud performance against the New Orleans Saints last week. He threw for just 160 yards and a touchdown in the game. Given how hot he's been of late, it was bound to happen sooner or later. He should get back to bigger fantasy numbers this week.
Newton has done his best with the offensive weapons he has this season. Tight end Greg Olsen has probably been the most steady of all of them. He doesn't rack up tons of yards, but he does get targeted a lot. For all of those looks, Olsen has 13 catches to show for in the last two weeks. He's a decent fantasy option in deeper leagues for this Sunday.
