Cam Newton toe injury 'no big deal' for Panthers, fantasy owners

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The latest news on Cam Newton will have Panthers fans breathing a sigh of relief.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton injured his toe in a win against the Jets on Sunday, but the Charlotte Observer is reporting that the injury is no big deal.

Newton injured the toe at the end of the first half but didn't miss a single play. He went to the locker room early to get the toe checked out but did not need X-rays. He finished the game with 273 yards passing and 12 yards rushing.

Fantasy spin: Newton remains a top flight fantasy football option at quarterback, despite the injury. He didn't need to miss any time and still performed at a high level against a tough defense. His matchup against the Saints next week should prove much friendlier.

Keep an eye on Newton throughout the week to make sure he doesn't aggravate the toe, but he should be a solid bet to play in Week 16.
