Amendola was a top option in the receiving game in the beginning of the season, but as the Patriots continue to get healthy, his role has diminished. Though Amendola caught all five of his targets for 54 yards, it was Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman who were targeted on 24 of Tom Brady's 41 attempts. It is not a trend that is expected to change, either, as the duo combined for 15 catches for 228 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Spin: Amendola is healthy, but he has not monopolized the receiving game as his fantasy owners anticipated when they drafted him. Instead, he is a tertiary target at best as Edelman has back-to-back weeks of nine catches and over 100 yards. Amendola's owners are luck to get the output they did from him, as he saw extended play only when Kenbrell Thompkins exited with a hip injury.
Amendola's Week 9 performance where he logged 122 yards and a score seems to be a thing of the past and nothing more, especially with a tough matchup versus the Cleveland Browns ahead in Week 14. As a result, the quick-footed receiver cannot be counted on as anything more than a desperation flex play.
