Fantasy football projections, Week 16: Saints vs. Panthers featuring Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and Cam Newton

We break down the Week 16 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers.

The Week 16 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers has big time playoff implications for both teams. We've got the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberfire.

New Orleans Saints

Quarterback Drew Brees got pounced on by the St. Louis Rams last week. Even the best players in the game put together a bad effort every once in a while and Brees might have been long overdue for a stinker. The good news for his owners is that he shows up in big games. Sunday's game against the Panthers is one of those matchups. He'll be up against a tough secondary unit, but he's got tons of weapons to look to.

Brees' favorite target without a doubt these days is tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham was also held in check by the Rams last week, but two weeks ago he scored not one, but two touchdowns against the Panthers. Brees will target him heavily in Charlotte.

Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton and his team were due for a loss and two weeks ago in New Orleans they got it handed to them. Now they have a chance to even the score against the Saints at home. Newton will use his arm and legs to make that happen, and he'll use a variety of pass catchers to aid him in trying to top the Saints.

Tight end Greg Olsen is probably the most reliable receiver the Panthers have in terms of fantasy production. Newton targets him regularly and he's consistent even though he seldom goes off for big games like Graham and others. Olsen could indeed find the end zone this week in a game that will be closely contested.
