Jordan Reed injury update: TE placed on I.R., season over for fantasy owners

Adam Bettcher

The Redskins tight end was sent to injured reserve, ending his season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) was placed on injured reserved on Thursday and won't play in the team's Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys. The move ends his 2013 season.

Fantasy Impact: It's a tough break for one of the few bright spots in Washington's offense. Reed busted on the fantasy relevance scene in Week 7 with a 9/143/1 line and produced as a TE1 for the following three weeks before playing his final game of the 2013 season in Week 11. The concussion marks the third of his young career and will be a serious issue that Washington will have to continue to monitor for the rest of his career.

With Reed out of the picture, Logan Paulsen will continue to be the team's starting tight end. However, he is far from a suitable replacement. Although Pausen has found the end zone twice in the last three weeks, the talent and targets simply aren't there for acceptable fantasy production. He hasn't had more than three catches since Week 3. Owners need to look elsewhere for a replacement as Paulsen remains a low-end TE2.
