Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 17: Joique Bell's big week makes him interesting

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Joique Bell was one of the better running backs in Week 17. Should fantasy owners ride him again in Week 16?

There were not many backs more productive in Week 16 than Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell. He touched the ball 30 times with 20 rushes for 91 yards and 10 receptions for 63 yards. Bell scored one TD in the Week 16 loss to the Giants.

His big game had a lot to do with Reggie Bush suffering from fumblitis again and the Lions benched him for most of the second half. Bell has really been stringing together solid games with touchdowns in three of his last four games to go with a combined 18 receptions over that span.

This week, he gets a dream matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are 31st in yards allowed and 32nd in points allowed heading into the last week of the year.

Fantasy impact: It's never easy to start a backup running back, but there is a lot to like with Bell. Receiver Calvin Johnson is unlikely to play and the Lions might be moving Bush into the slot more, which should open up more carries for Bell. He should be viewed as a low-end RB2 in PPR formats with a very high upside.
