Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 17: Steven Jackson still not putting up stats

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Steven Jackson and the Falcons aren't the best offense in the world, but could they get something going for fantasy owners on Sunday?

The Atlanta Falcons were able to move the ball against the San Francisco 49ers last week in a tough 34-24 loss on the road. The 49ers have a terrific defense, but things will get worse for the Falcons as they'll welcome the NFL's best D in the Carolina Panthers.

Linebacker Luke Kuechly will be ready for Steven Jackson, and the Falcons offensive line is very unlikely to be creating many running lanes this week.

Fantasy impact: A lot of folks drafted Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson to be their best player, but that didn't happen. He's currently sitting outside of the top 30 for running backs in PPR leagues due to missing four games with injury.

He and the Falcons will have their hands full against a hungry Panthers team. They have a shot to go for home-field advantage in the playoffs and will be bringing their A-game. Jackson was actually decent against them back on Nov. 3, rushing for 57 yards on 13 carries. However, the Panthers have shut down too many running backs throughout the year to consider S-Jax as anything more than a flex play in standard leagues.
