Ryan Matthews surprises fantasy owners with 100 yards in Week 14

Donald Miralle

Matthews inched closer to 1,000 rushing yards on Sunday.

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Matthews had one of his best games of the 2013 season in Week 14 against the New York Giants.

The Chargers won the game 37-14, and Matthews carried the ball 29 times for 103 yards and a touchdown. He also added 32 receiving yards. He now has 885 rushing yards and four touchdowns this season.

Fantasy spin: Matthews hasn't been the most consistent fantasy football running back this season, or throughout his career for that matter, but his performance on Sunday was a good one. He could be a productive player down the stretch of the fantasy football season, but it's tough to envision him having too many games like he did against the Giants in Week 14.

Consider Matthews a strong flex option the rest of the way with games against the Broncos and Raiders coming up in the next two weeks.
