Austin Collie will have increased workload

49ers wide receiver Austin Collie will have his work increased in practice, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he envisions a heavier workload this week for wide receiver Austin Collie.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Collie has not experienced any lingering effects of a torn patella tendon which cost him the 2012 season, although he has been advised against going full-speed in practice. Collie caught two passes for 20 yards in the waning moments of the 49ers preseason game, and remains a factor among a heavily contested battle for a roster spot.

Fantasy Spin: The 49ers are looking for someone to contribute after losing Michael Crabtree due to a torn Achilles tendon, and for Collie to do so, he will need to move past health issues once again. It's refreshing to see him contribute in a game situation, but he's difficult to invest much trust in given his lengthy history of injuries.

However, if he proves he is well enough to make the final 53, he could be a late-round sleeper worth snagging given his past production. It's still an uphill battle for Collie, who has not played in all 16 games since he did so with the Colts in 2011.
